App redesign & rebuild

Give your existing app a better next chapter. Our London studio helps businesses in the UK and worldwide improve user journeys, refresh interfaces and modernise the code behind them. Start with a review, then agree the changes your product needs.

The right starting point

Review first. Improve with purpose.

Share the app, the problems users encounter and what you want to achieve. We review the key journeys and available designs, code and integrations before recommending targeted improvements or a rebuild. Keep useful foundations and focus the work where it matters.

  • Customers struggle to find their way through important tasks.
  • The interface needs to reflect how your business works today.
  • An existing iOS or Android app needs a clearer plan for its next release.

Scope & delivery

A better experience. A clear way forward.

An app review and prioritised plan

Review the agreed user journeys, interface and available technical foundations. Receive practical recommendations, with the work, dependencies and priorities set out before you decide what to build.

Interfaces you can explore

Work through navigation, screen layouts and important error, loading and empty states. Review prototypes for the agreed changes, with usability and accessibility considered alongside the visual design.

Improvements built for the next release

Refine the existing app or rebuild the agreed parts around your chosen platform. Review working updates, test the important journeys and prepare the release and handover together.

Working together

From the first conversation to release

  1. Review the existing app

Understand the users and goals, then assess the agreed journeys, code, data and services. Confirm the access needed and identify constraints.

  2. Agree the right changes

Compare focused improvements with a rebuild. Set out the priorities, deliverables, dependencies, schedule and quote before development.

  3. Design and improve

Review prototypes and working updates. Refine the interface and implementation around the agreed scope, with regular opportunities to make decisions.

  4. Plan the transition

Test the agreed journeys and any data changes. Agree release steps, rollback options, store accounts and handover before the new version goes live.

Planning the project

What affects cost and timeline?

A screen refresh and a product rebuild involve different work. We assess your existing app before estimating the review or development, then confirm each agreed phase in writing. The scope depends on:

  • The journeys and screens you want to improve, and the platforms you support.
  • The condition of the code, available tests and access to designs and build notes.
  • Existing accounts, stored data, backend services and third-party integrations.
  • Migration, device testing, release continuity and handover requirements.

Before we begin

Common questions

Can you take over an app built by another developer?

We start with a review before agreeing to development. Share the app, available code and documentation, and the access you can provide. We assess the technology, dependencies and build process, then confirm whether we can take on the work and which specialists your project needs. You should have permission to share the materials.

Does our app need a redesign or a full rebuild?

An interface or journey improvement may be enough when the underlying app remains suitable. A rebuild may make sense when the foundations no longer support the product's needs. We explain the trade-offs after the review, including what can be retained and how each option affects delivery and maintenance.

Can you review iOS and Android apps?

Yes. We agree which platforms and journeys to review, then assess the code and integrations before recommending development. For an iOS and Android product, we consider whether separate native implementations or suitable shared Swift development with Skip fits the requirements. Compatibility and platform-specific work need checking before a shared approach is agreed.

What happens to existing users and their data?

We identify the affected accounts, stored data and services during planning. If changes require migration, we scope how records will be preserved and checked, alongside release and rollback steps. The plan depends on your current systems and access; a redesign alone does not require replacing every part of the app.

How much will a redesign or rebuild cost?

We quote the review and any development around your existing app and the changes you agree. A focused interface update differs from replacing core workflows, data storage or integrations. Our app development cost guide gives context for new builds; those examples are not fixed redesign prices. Your written quote confirms the scope, deliverables, schedule and VAT treatment.

What will we receive at handover?

We agree the deliverables before development, including designs, source-code access, build notes, account responsibilities and a handover walkthrough where included. Ownership, licences, defect support and ongoing maintenance are set out in your project agreement.
